A guide to spa speak

First time visiting a spa or 10th - it doesn't matter; the range of treatments & experiences can be confusing. If you're not sure about a treatment don't be afraid to ask. Our glossary is a start to understanding the terms but not definitive - the list is truly endless.

Facial

A treatment to cleanse, tone and moisturize the face and usually involving a variety of skin treatments including steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, masks, peels and massage. Multiple variations exist, always best to discuss with the therapist and choose one suitable for your skin type and needs

Flotation Tank

An enclosed tank where there are no external sensations or stimuli and which is often in silent darkness as a way of helping to deepen the relaxation experience

Flotation Therapy

A deeply relaxing body treatment where you float on the surface of the water, which is at body temperature and contains heavy salt and mineral content to aid buoyancy and to allow a feeling of total weightlessness. May include special lights and atmospheric music to help relaxation
