Lough Eske Castle is nestled within a 43 acre forest estate hugging the tranquil shores of Lough Eske and the panoramic backdrop of the Bluestack Mountain range of southwest Donegal. A castle has been located on the hotel site dating back as far as the 1400's. The current castle was built in the 1860's and was completely destroyed by fire in 1939. The castle, as a focal point of the hotel, has now been completely renovated and enhanced to create the Lough Eske Castle and Spa.
If you journey to the castle by day, a winding country lane guides you through primeval forests with spring wildflowers, moss lined trees and lovely lakeside views of Lough Eske. In the evening, the forest sparkles with lights that illuminate its tall cedars and cast a welcoming glow over the castle itself. Inside, expect open fireplaces, exposed sandstone walls, Chesterfield sofas and enticing areas where you can sit, relax and enjoy the views over the beautifully landscaped gardens.
Please note that during winter, the hotel will close from Sunday-Thursday (Jan-March and November/December).
