VOYA

A Gift for Michele Obama

Great to see our friends from VOYA will see their beautiful products presented to the First Lady on St Patrick’s Day, when Taoiseach Enda Kenny will make his traditional visit to the White House to meet President Barack Obama. This is the second year Sligo’s VOYA products, a growing seaweed-based luxury spa brand, have been given the privilege of gifting the First Lady.

This year the First Lady’s VOYA gift contains a luxury selection of the brand’s award-winning body range with its newly designed packaging. The gift contains VOYA’s New Invigorating Seaweed Soap, 150g, with its uplifting and refreshing spearmint and rosemary scent, to leave the skin feeling cleaner, smoother and softer; the beautifully nourishing Handy to Have Reparative Hand Crème, 75ml, infused with soothing lavender, calming rosemary and lemon essence; Angelicus Serratus Nourishing Body Oil, 100ml, to restore and hydrate thirst-quenched skin, perfect for seeing your skin through that winter/spring transition plus the rich and luxurious Softly Does It, 200ml, a body moisturiser enriched with stimulating lime and rejuvenating mandarin to leave the skin silky smooth and beautifully fragranced. (All available to purchase online via www.voya.ie.

Spa Ireland first met Mark & Kira Walton from VOYA back when we were launching our website and it's wonderful to see the success the brand is now enjoying. Well earned and well deserved! Any lady, let alone the First Lady, will love getting a VOYA gift.

The Marker Spa

Magic Massages

Dublin's Grand Canal Dock is now shaping up as one of the city's coolest quarters, helped by the presence of FaceBookers, Googlers and Air BnB'ers who all work, and now live in the area. I'm lucky enough to live there too, and after 10 years, it just keeps getting better. One of the best additions to the Square is The Marker Hotel and of course, the Spa at The Marker. Kirstian Florian treatments, a superb pool and, to my mind, one of the best masseuses in the country.

Luh is from Bali and is a typically charming Asian, filled with smiles and warmth. After too many hours hunched over a laptop and as many hours flying long-haul (economy class), my back, shoulders and neck were screaming for attention. I booked the one-hour Kirstin Florian Customised Massage which promises to "restore inner peace and harmony through the power of massage". Spa blurbs don't always deliver on the promises but this one really did. Greeted by Luh, and asked where I wanted her to focus, along with what level of pressure I wanted her to apply, there followed the most sublime one hour of massage brilliance; Luh really knows what she is doing and she managed to release the most stubborn of knots in the gentlest of ways. Gorgeous Kirstin Florian oil aromas, heated massage bed, mango smoothie and sorbet to finish enhanced it all.

€110.00 is not the cheapest massage in the city, but it is categorically one of the best and in my view, world-class. For bookings call The Marker Spa on 01 687 5194 or email spa@themarker.ie.
