The Shelbourne - 16 May 2014

The Shelbourne

Celebrating 190 years in business

The Shelbourne Hotel on Dublin's St Stephen's Green is one of those landmark hotels that grow to become an intrinsic part of the city in which they are located. It's a place to see and be seen, and at Christmas time it's hard to get in the door with so many of the Irish diaspora returning 'home'.

This year sees the Shelbourne celebrate 190 years in business and we laud it's longevity. A special package is on offer with rates starting from €190 per person sharing (though this increases during peak season so do be sure to check rates when you are booking).

The rate includes • One night’s accommodation in a deluxe guestroom • Full Irish Breakfast in sumptuous The Saddle Room • Use of the spa facilities to include pool, state of the art gymnasium, steam room and sauna. Call + 353 1 663 4500 or Click Here

Airbrush Make-up - 07 May 2014

Airbrush Make-up

Now Available at the Spa at Castlemartyr Resort

Delighted to share the latest blog from the Spa team at Castlemartyr Resort.

"Airbrush Make-Up, one of the most advanced products in the beauty world today has now been launched at The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort. Airbase is the air brush brand used by The Spa at Castlemartyr Resort. Airbase are the company which offer high end, silicone based make up to be applied by an airbrush. It was created by Judy Naake, the modest beauty guru that brought the now leading tanning product St. Tropez to the UK. Airbase has since had product development by Oscar nominated make-up artist Anni Buchanan.

We are living in a HD era and due to the latest technology advances on the screen traditional film and TV make-up is no longer flawless enough. However, airbase make-up is perfect for the unforgiving world of high definition. Because airbase make-up is airbrushed onto the skin, it atomises the product creating tiny particles that are not visible to the naked eye. Airbase is used by the contestants of X-Factor, the models of London Fashion Week and performers such as Rihanna. Air brush make-up is no longer a secret of the small screen and can be enjoyed by all for that special occassion. It is a fine mist of foundation and when it rests onto the skin it is a fine veil of make-up so strong it covers skin complaints and tattoos. Not only does it feel good on your skin but it has longevity and lasts up to 15 hours with no shine so it is perfect for brides or if you have an event coming up.

Airbase make-up is not water based so it does not sink into the skin. This is perfect for acne sufferers as it will not clog your pores and create spots. It is also waterproof so you will not need to touch it up for your special occassion if you are moved to tears. I decided to try it out for myself as I suffer from pretty bad acne rosecea and I wanted to see not only the coverage but how my skin would react. Sarah,my make-up artist, first used an airbase primer which is particularly effective because it was specifically designed and built with silicone in mind. Sarah applied the eye make-up first which seemed very unusual but correct for airbase make-up. The make-up was applied using a small spray gun and was very gentle on the skin. Once the make-up is applied blusher and bronzer are also applied using the air brush to contour the face. When Sarah was happy with the application she then touched up the eyes and lips to complete the look. I was amazed by the finished product as not only did it have an excellent coverage but it was flawless. I left the make-up on all day to try out its longevity and even went for a brisk walk that evening to test it out and yes it does what it says on the tin. My make-up was still in perfect condition when I removed it effortlessly that night. Airbase combines a unique mix of ingredients with silicone at the heart of its formulation. Feeling beautiful and luxurious on the skin, the silicone chosen does not clog your pores, allowing your skin to breathe. It is this that helps give airbase make-up unrivalled durabilty. Silicone is heat resistant, non-stick and plyable. That means that your airbase make-up application lasts all day and can be 'moved' for a few minutes unlike water based foundations. Any errors are therefore easy to correct after application. Airbase contains vitamin A, an ingredient that is proven to improve elasticity of the skin and therefore reduce fine lines. It also contains vitamin E. This is an anti-oxidant that moisturise and repairs helping to deactivate the free radicals that age the skin. Try out the new airbrush make-up with the introductory offer of €55.00 until 30th June 2014. Advanced bookings are required."
